Sophia Baltzoi
Sophia Baltzoi is an archaeologist and a tour guide. She has been a PhD Candidate in the Department of Theatre Studies (University of the Peloponnese) since 2017 and she has been awarded a scholarship (State Scholarships Foundation). Her PhD thesis focuses on the tragic mask and the revival of ancient drama using an interdisciplinary approach combining the theory with the theatrical practice. Her research interests concern the Archaeology of the Theatre, Classical Pottery Painting, Ancient Greek Costume, Ancient Religion and Rituals and Experimental Archaeology. She participated in systematic university excavations in Greece and Jordan. She worked as a contract archaeologist not only in rescue excavations at Western Macedonia but also in the field of digitization of mobile monuments while occasionally she works as a licensed tour guide. Moreover, she has been a speaker in scientific conferences and lectures, her papers have been published and she has attended several seminars and workshops related to ancient drama. She is the Vice President of the Historical and Folklore Society of Tzoumerka.
